What are the rules? We follow IBJJF rules.

Is there parking onsite? Yes, there is free parking 100 metres behind the building.

When do I weigh in? Weigh ins happen just before your first match.

Can I bring spectators? Yes, spectators are charged at £10 on the door.

Can I bring my coach? Coaches passes are issued automatically to teams with 5 or more entries. There is no matside coaching

When do I need to be there? You should be at the venue an hour before the scheduled start time for your first match.

I can’t make it, how do I let you know? If you find that you can’t make it, or are late, you should make a note to that effect in your smoothcomp notes and the organisers should be able to see it. It is very helpful to keep us updated if you cannot make it.

When is the schedule released? By the Wednesday before the weekend of the tournament.

What if I don’t make weight? If you do not make weight then you will be disqualified. No refunds.

Do you do repechage? No, but we do have bronze medal matches for the two losing semi finalists.

How do I know what is going on when I am there? There are screens that show when your next match will begin and you can check in your smoothcomp account on your phone. https://support.smoothcomp.com/category/19-category

Can I wear different top and bottoms? No, matching top and bottoms please.

Why is it only allowing me to register in a higher age group? Your age is determined by the year you are born, so if you or your child’s birthday is late November or December then you may go up one year.

Can I fight in two divisions? We do not recommend it, but if you are eligible for two divisions you may do so.

Can I fight the open weight? Yes, if you medal in your division you can enter the open weight when registration opens at the medal desk.

Can my child fight openweight? We do not run openweight divisions for juniors for safety reasons.

Do I get a certificate? All juniors and juveniles receive a certificate.

I’m a pro MMA fighter, Judo black belt, competition wrestler, which division do I enter? If you do not have a grade in BJJ and are high level in another martial art then you should enter the blue belt division, but wear a white belt.
